KIDS’ DAY OUT PROGRAM

 

Job description

 

JOB TITLE:                 Teacher

 

REQUIREMENTS:

- Hold or in Process of Bachelor’s Degree with Early Childhood endorsement or

experience in teaching field minimum of one year

- Experience working with children of preschool age.

- Be checked by the Nebraska Central Registry for Child Abuse & Felony abuse.

- Member in good standing of a recognized Christian Church

- Ability to lift 50 pounds

- Provide adequate vehicle and insurance necessary to make home visits

- Copy of current Teaching Certificate

- CPR & First Aid

 

REPORTS TO:                                    Director of KDO

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:               The KDO teacher will be responsible for classroom of up to 12 children with the assistance of teacher assistant

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

·        Maintain confidentiality.

·        Work in teamwork with the teacher assistant assigned to carry out a quality classroom experience for all children.

·        Follow all Hope Community Church policies and procedures.  Cooperate with church staff to help insure appropriate services for children and families.

·        Participate in regular in-services as requested by Director, up to a minimum of 12 hours annually.

·        Prepare and carry out weekly lesson plans based on curriculum assigned and as developmentally appropriate.

·        Advise Director of the need for classroom equipment and supplies.

·        Supervise activities of children in an environment which is safe, healthy, enriching and conducive to the spiritual and social development of each child.

·        Make at least 3 home visits during the school year to share information with parents.

·        Supervise the activities of parents and community volunteers in the classroom.

·        Provide nutritional food experiences within the classroom activities, at least 2 per school year.

·        Refer parents to community resources as needed.

·        Report suspected child abuse by following the Church Policy on reporting.

·        Provides for the physical and emotional safety and health of the children, including environment, diapering, and wellness.

·        Other duties as assigned by the Director.
